# RSS starter workflows — local review copies

These two copies start manually with one Hacker News feed, five entries and a $1 maximum Actor charge. Expected successful output is up to five feed_item records; the metadata row is billed before filtering. At $0.008 per emitted row, five entries plus metadata cost $0.048. Check live pricing and your account charges first.

n8n: Import rss-ingestion.n8n.json. Select one HTTP Header Auth credential (Authorization: Bearer YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN) in Start Actor, Get run status and Get dataset. Keep the workflow inactive. Execute manually. Start is not automatically retried; status polling is bounded; HTTP/run/feed errors, empty output and truncated datasets stop processing. Inspect the output before connecting a destination.

Make: Import rss-ingestion.make.json into a blank scenario. Select your Apify connection. Keep scheduling OFF. Inspect Actor/input fields after connecting, because dynamic fields can refresh. Choose Run once and inspect output. On timeout, inspect the existing Apify run before trying again: rerunning can charge again. No email, sheet or database destination is configured.

Tokens belong only in the connection/credential manager. Do not paste tokens into URLs or these files. Publisher content is untrusted data; never execute feed text as code. Larger inputs need reviewed dataset pagination and output mapping. Deduplication across runs is your responsibility; RSS Feed Monitor is a separate product.

Verification: JSON parsing, input validation, linked node names and JavaScript output/error logic checked locally. Actual authenticated import/execution in n8n/Make is not claimed. No paid run or recurring schedule was started.
